This is a project I’ve been meaning to do since forever, and this is actually my third and final attempt at it. I first came up with the initial concept for the EP around the summer of 2019. It was supposed to be some sort of allegory of my mental state, what I thought my chances at accomplishing my goals were and what my vision of the world was at that moment (hence the name). Of the original six songs I planned, one got released eventually (Self Destruct), two were finished but never released (Neo Concrete, Voyage) and one was fully produced with the hopes of including vocals, but it didn’t end up happening.
I realized I was not good enough to do what I originally wanted, so I decided to “split” the EP into a bunch of single releases, only two of which ended up being released (Self Destruct and Protocol, a song that was made later down the line). When planning for this is where I came up with the concept of Dash, the robot ¿girl? that has appeared in all my artwork since then and will keep appearing for the foreseeable future.
By that point, I was so disillusioned with both my abilities and the reception those tracks initially got, that I was pretty much set on completely throwing the towel on music making. Hopefully, in early 2021 that mindset was changed due to all the fantastic people I’ve met since then. The encouragement, guidance and help all of those people have given me changed my mindset, and eventually in late 2021 I was like “hey dude, this time im doing it fr”.
Four songs and 16 minutes may not seem like that much work, but it’s the first project I actually finish and that I feel proud of.
